As you can see at hte map at the left, Egypt is a land grown around a river: the Nyle. The Nyle defines the west and the south part of Egypt. At the west, tombs were built because the sun goes down west, and ancient egyptians thought that the sun then went to the underworld and at the south part, temples were built, simbolyzing the day and life. The capital city of Egypt is El Cairo. Around the river were the most fertyle lands, but, Egypt is nearly 80& desert!
